OMNI VI Remote Control

A special version of the SMART Key-n-Log GUI is the primary means of performing remote control of the OMNI VI via the internet. The logical steps in the remote control process are enumerated below:

- Establish internet connectivity with the remote computer.

- Go to www.logmein.com and log in.

- Select the computer which is connected to the home station.

- Provide the password to connect to the home computer.

- Click "REMOTE CONTROL", indicating that you wish to remotely control the home computer.

- From the remote computer, place a call to the home computer with SKYPE.

- When you hear the phone ringing in the headphones, answer the call at the home computer.

- Run the special version of Key-n-Log on the home computer.

- Click the VIEW button on the top menu of Key-n-Log. The click OMNI REMOTE.

- Use the OMNI VI Remote Console to tune, change band, filters and otherwise operate the OMNI VI.

Assembling The Required Hardware and Software

Before you can do the above, you must assemble the necessary hardware and software. There is a fair amount of work to be accomplished, but, lucky for you, the hardest work has already been done for you. The best way to proceed is to define a few blocks of tasks and proceed to complete them one by one. The major hardware tasks are listed below:

Now that all the hardware is ready, the station hardware is connected together as shown below.


If you have assembled the hardware shown above, then the hard part is done. Now for the required software. Fortunately, all the required software is absolutely free. You will need the following software:

- The special version of SMART Key-n-Log GUI for OMNI remote control. Email N4YG.

- LOGMEIN. Download from www.logmein.com.

- SKYPE. Download from www.skype.com

Install all three of these on both the home and remote computers.
